Fair Trade and Environmental Film Festival
presented by Trade Aid and Forest & Bird
Seven nights of New Zealand and International documentaries with a fair trade and environmental focus. Each film night has a theme – Energy, Nature and Kiwi to name a few – and will be held at The Academy on Dundas St, beside Alhambra Park from 2 May. The Iron Wall documentary is about Israel, Gaza Strip, The Zionist movement. It follows the timeline, size, population of the settlements, and its impact on the peace process. This film also touches on the latest project to make the settlements a permanent fact on the ground – the wall that Israel is building in the West Bank and its impact on the Palestinian’s peoples. It hopes to spread awareness about the Palestinian issue and about Israel’s expansionist policies. Produced by : Palestinians for peace and democracy.

Organic Fest – At Sammy’s on Friday 1st May, with free beer and chocolate samples, as well as a tonne of local bands, all for just an hour of your time.

Students for Environmental Action (SEA) Otago are holding the annual Organic Festival at Sammy’s (Dunedin) Friday, May 1. The fifth Organic Festival is an event set up by SEA to promote organic options. There will be free organic beer/wine samples, food and environmental and community groups set up to provide information. Local Dunedin acts Tono, The Tomato Plants, Sex with Bowie, Fea St
Hustle, Biff Merchants, DJ Booof, DJ Manick and DJ Undertow will provide the entertainment.
Tickets are $5 and pre-sales are available at OUSA.
